Volunteering
  • – Step Up Tutoring is a grassroots movement of young people providing free online tutoring and mentorship to under-resourced elementary school students. Their relationship with LAUSD schools provides infinite students looking for help. With over 400k students in LAUSD, their goal is to serve 25,000 students within the next 5 years. Volunteering is currently online which offers a flexible schedule, it’s an easy and meaningful way to support at-risk youth. Their leadership team is filled with young students and young alumni.   • –&²Ô²ú²õ±è;English-in-Action (EIA) is part of a nationwide program in which volunteers meet with Berkeley students, visiting scholars and their partners, students from adult schools, and local community colleges, on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, to increase participants’ competency in the English language, by practicing conversational English once a week.   • – Join the YWCA Comms Team, a group of dedicated volunteers who are interested in advancing racial and gender justice in our communities. Our team shares the YWCA message of eliminating racism and empowering women across social media manages the YWCA blog and maintains the YWCA website. No experience is necessary! The role provides leadership development and in-house training for managing communications in a digital space.
  • – The Oakland Public Education Fund is a program that has volunteers supporting students in Oakland Unified School District classrooms. As an ongoing volunteer, you will spend an hour a week (or more!) at an Oakland Public School. See Transfer and Career Center for more information. (Continuous)
  • – Berkeley Mutual Aid is a volunteer group of neighbors helping neighbors by meeting basic needs for isolated individuals such as grocery shopping, prescription pick up, social support, and wildfire evacuation planning. They match volunteers into pairs for ongoing weekly support, and they need your help. You can plan around your unique schedule and make new social connections in the process. Sign up today!
